Internet Based Ads

Internet-based advertising—also known as ad targeting or online behavioural advertising (OBA)—involves tracking users' online activities to deliver personalized or targeted ads. This practice, often unnoticed by consumers, enables businesses to tailor their advertising based on inferred user interests. In fact, most internet users searching for products or services are likely to have encountered behavioural advertising.

In a typical case of online behavioural advertising (OBA), your web-browsing activity is tracked through the use of “cookies”—small text files placed on your browser by a website’s server. These cookies relay information back to the server about your browsing behavior. Beyond tracking, cookies are also used to store user-specific data such as login credentials or items in a virtual shopping cart. In some scenarios, particularly when multiple websites are part of a shared advertising network, cookies can be used to track users across different sites—such as being “followed” from a travel site to a news site. While users can opt out of tracking and remove existing cookies, some types—like HTTP cookies or “zombie cookies”—can be automatically recreated even after deletion, making them harder to avoid.

Today, personalized internet advertising is common, and it's increasingly catching the public's attention. While some privacy advocates view it as intrusive due to its reliance on personal data, we assure you that the practice is safe and respectful of your privacy. To learn more about how we collect, use, and share your information, please review our Privacy Policy.
